2022 Picnic-Undoukai

9/26/2022 5:48 pm

After decades of holding the event at Coyote Point, this was the first year we had the picnic at Burlingame High School. We had beautiful weather, and a record number of participants. We ate delicious bento prepared by Akagi Restaurant and Onigilly, and played the traditional races and games. We hope everyone had an enjoyable time together.

We thank the newly appointed Consul General of Japan in San Francisco, The Honorable Yasushi Noguchi and Mrs. Yuko Noguchi, and SMNG's Honorary Director Kozo Kimura and Mrs. Kathleen Kimura who took time out of their busy schedules to attend.

The Consulate General posted our event on their Facebook and Twitter pages

Thank you to PTA President Eriko Gardiner and Picnic Event Coordinators Kelly Kishore, Naomi Funahashi, Frances Kawaguchi, Kokoro Motegi, Yihan Zhao, and audio tech Tim Shuen for taking the lead to organize this memorable event for SMNG.

We appreciate the great team of parent and student volunteers who took on tasks to help prepare, set up and put on this huge event. Everyone took a part in making this a successful picnic-undoukai.

Our heartfelt thanks for the generous donations made by SMNG families, corporations and local businesses which helped make this picnic-undoukai extra special for our students and families.

With much gratitude,

the SMNG staff
